Poolside Sliders

The weather may be miserable, well at least it is where I currently am, but that doesn't dampen my spirits when it comes to being hopeful of a half decent summer and if not a nice vacation to look forward too. So what better way to continue to lift those spirits by browsing the internet for summer style inspiration.

When it comes to buying for summer I tend to go for a few basic pieces which can be worn different ways and teamed with different accessories to provide a variety of looks. I also think it's important to select appropriate footwear and one of my go to pieces of footwear the last few summers has been the slider.

The slider for those who may not be aware is a type of flip-flop I suppose with the toe post and basically it's as it says, slides on and off the foot with ease. So many stores from the high street, online and designer make an array of these in various colours and prints as well as different branded ones as well.

I've picked up a couple of Nike sliders over the years and they are perfect for when you're around the pool or popping to the shop or even just browsing around on holiday. I decided to share with you some of my favourite picks available now and I have split it into his and hers although I guess a lot can in fact be unisex.

For Her

And if you fancy a bit of a splurge ...

For Him

And again if you fancy a splurge ...

These are of course just a few ideas there are so many brands, colours and prints available to suit all budgets.

Let me know if these are part of your summer essentials too. What are some of your buys?

RI Plus

I know this collection was launched a little while ago now but I just hadn't got round to taking a closer look at it. I'm talking about the River Island Plus range which ranges from sizes 18-24. Available online and in selected stores (I believe) I personally think it is about time that more high street brands offer a 'plus size' range.

To me, I don't know how I feel about using the term 'plus' because ladies can come in all shapes and sizes and I find it unfair to label, but I guess that's the world we live in and everything and everyone has a 'label' these days.

As we know models have for years been seen as stick thin, with bones protruding and to be honest very unflattering and child like bodies but it's now becoming a huge deal to show diversity in the modelling industry and we have models such as Ashley Graham who has been seen walking catwalk runways as well as featuring in Sports Illustrated which is a huge achievement. She is all about loving your shape and size and showing the beauty is from the inside.

Now, we could probably talk until we're blue in the face about the health implications of being a 'larger' size shall we say blah blah but lets be real for a second if your comfortable in your skin and that shows then beauty will show and you will create a positive aura around yourself. We shouldn't body shame anyone, it's all about educating and most of all learning to love yourself.

One of the first steps is ensuring you dress for your shape and size and wear the pieces which flatter, accentuate your body and assets as well as something you are comfortable in.

Fashion is about experimenting and that's regardless of size.

Anyway, back to the RI Plus collection I think it's a great idea and personally about time. I managed to have a look through and found some really nice pieces and all reasonably priced with items for all occasions.

You can find the collection for yourself here

Below i've linked some of my favourite pieces which I think will look great throughout Spring/Summer

IVY PARK Review

Finally, after the internet went into melt down over the launch of the Ivy Park collection I was able to get my hands on a couple of the pieces from the collection so I could find out if all the hype was necessary.

Okay, so i've featured the grey ivy park tee and shorts however, I did also order the grey sports bra and the ivy park leggings however, even though all the sizes were the same I literally couldn't even get the leggings on past my knees (thick girl problems) and the sports bra decided it would cut the circulation off my boobs and squish them right down, NOT COOL!

So my first thoughts on the above two items were that the sizing was a little bit off, and although I am a size 10 I just couldn't pull them off, intact I couldn't get them on!! which was disappointing.

However, I then tried the tee and shorts on and they fit perfectly. So comfortable and easy to move in, the tee has a round neck and short sleeves and is a great fit. And the shorts weren't too short and I think were actually quite flattering. Perfect alternative to a pair of leggings, especially if you're training and in the gym.

I styled them a couple of ways, firstly with a pair of socks and sliders, I know what you're thinking, but I think it looks cool and relaxed as well as pair of Nike trainers.

The size I purchased in the shorts and tee was a size small.

Overall I found the collection to be very reasonably priced and with such a selection to choose from you're definitely going to find something suited to you. I would advise checking the sizing and if possible visit a local Topshop store so you can try them on. I found my local store had so much of the collection available that I kind of wish I had waited and not placed an order online so soon!

Get The Look

The socks i'm wearing are by Arthur George and they're the original Dash Doll socks I picked up from the New York store. Unfortunately they're unique to that store and you can't get them online but i've linked some alternatives below.

The below items are those in which I ordered but unfortunately didn't fit.

What do you think of this collection? Did you manage to get your hands on any of the pieces? If so what did you think of the sizing?

Loungewear Love

Loungewear

Fashion is forever changing and trends come and go, regularly. We all know that tailored, feminine, sophisticated and sexy looks are going to be around for a long time and a lot of the time we dress in a way that doesn't necessarily always mean comfort. But let's face it we all love when we can have a 'down' day where we can throw on our comfiest clothes and lounge around.

Ask yourself how you would feel if you could have the best of both worlds? Mixing lounge wear  with trainers or even with a pair of heels is fast becoming an easy go-to look with celebrities such as the Kardashian's, Selena Gomez and Rihanna having all been seen rocking this trend. Whether it be going for lunch or a shopping trip it's the perfect choice! Laid back and relaxed.

From what I can remember this look has been around before but as we are seeing with all fashion trends they end up coming back around years later.

I've selected some of my favourite pieces that are available right now and linked them for easy shopping! Enjoy ladies!
